has always been exposed to gospel music; her mother played the organ and her grandmother was the choir director at the Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. Of all the music styles Danielle has been exposed to, Gospel is her most favorite.
Danielle's vibrant and powerful voice has afforded her a wide variety of opportunities over the course of her young adult life. The spring of 2001 lead the beginning of a three-year stint with New Orleans' Jazzland Theme Park where Danielle played the lead role in their production of Jazz, Jazz, Jazz, a song and dance program depicting the charms of New Orleans history and culture. then it was her audition with music master Ellis Marsalis for the jazz studies program at the University of New Orleans, at which time he told her she "had a great instrument." After a time at the University of New Orleans, Danielle was invited to participate in Xavier University's 'Music and Vocal Performance' degree program that afforded her a broader approach to vocal music.
When most of New Orleans was evacuating for Hurricane Gustav in September of 2008, Danielle Wilson was off to Washington, DC's Kennedy Center to participate in the first ever 105 Voices of History National Choir which is made up of one student from each of the 105 Historically Black Colleges and Universities
throughout America. Prior to the grand event, Danielle auditioned for and earned a solo performance during the concert.
In 2009, Danielle's career skyrockets! First she got the lead role in a locally produced production of Mahalia! Mahalia! where Danielle performed the songs of Mahalia Jackson, the first Queen of Gospel Music where she received rave reviews. In April, Danielle not only had her first gig with JOYFUL's Spirit of New Orleans Choir at the 26th annual French Quarter Festival, she was so awesome that she earned a spot on the Choir's summer tour to Spain. In December, she rounded out the year with a brand new CD entitled "Reflections of Mahalia" and a 9-city tour to Italy.
Danielle is now graduated from New Orleans' Xavier University with a Vocal Performance degree and is more able to focus on her career as a much sought after vocalist, making appearances in various New Orleans musicial productions and concert tours.
Danielle's repertoire consists mostly of traditional gospel and old Negro spirituals.
